Finding Books

Most academic libraries in the United States use the Library of Congress Classification system to organize their books. Criminology books will generally be found under call numbers starting with HV

  •  HV – Social pathology. Social and public welfare. Criminology  (located on the third floor of the library)

  •  BF – Psychology
  • K – Law in general. Comparative and uniform law. Jurisprudence
  • KF – Law in the United States
  • RA – Public aspects of medicine
  • RB – Pathology
  • U – Military science
  • UB – Military administration

Dissertations can be an excellent resource for focused data and literature reviews.

Materials that are not available at the USF St. Petersburg campus Nelson Poynter Memorial Library may be requested from other USF libraries or from libraries outside of USF. This free service is available to any professor or currently enrolled USF student; however, we are unable to guarantee a specific delivery date so please plan ahead. You will be notified by email when the book is ready to pick up at the Poynter Library or when the scanned article is ready for access.
