Evaluating Information

The CRAAP Test

  • Currency - How current is the information, or, is it current enough?
  • Relevance - Is the information related to the topic and at the appropriate level for your research?
  • Authority - Who wrote/provided the information? Is an author named? What are the qualifications of the author/organization.
  • Accuracy - Is the information supported by the evidence? Has it been reviewed? Can you verify the information?
  • Purpose - Why was the information published?
