If you feel the Library should be evacuated because of safety or health concerns -- such as power outages, infrastructure damage, chemical spills or other odors affecting staff and library users:
Call University Police (3-4140 or 3-4444). They can help assess the situation to determine if the hazard requires evacuation or simply moving people from a particular floor or area. They can also contact facilities, the fire department, or other emergency responders if warranted.
Regardless of the timing of the incident, call early so the situation can be evaluated and appropriate action taken.
At least two people are needed to ensure safety and security in the library on evenings and weekends. This coverage can be provided by two library staff members or by one staff member and the security guard. If assigned staffers do not show up for work, or must leave early because of an emergency the remaining staff member should do the following.
