Kanopy How To: Embed Films

What is embedding?

You can easily share or embed any Kanopy film (or clip or playlist you create) through the sharing tools below the film.

"Embedding" a film means that you embed the whole video player into another website (your library website, your course management system, your blog, etc) so that the film appears and can be watched there as opposed to having to click on a separate link to the film.

Note: to simply share a film link (rather than embed the video player into another website) which is easier, you can see how to here. This article focuses only on how to embed films.

Below every film (and clip/playlist) you will notice a button for "Share / Embed". If you select this button if will come up two tabs for which allow you to both share and embed the film. The default tab will be the "Share" option, so simply select the "Embed" tab.

This feature allows you to embed the film player into any other website. Simply copy the HTML code you see there and paste it into your course post or website code.

Let's say you want to share a link to a film with others.

Below every film (and clip/playlist you create) you will notice a button for "Share / Embed". If you select this button if will come up two tabs for which allow you to both share and embed the film.

The default tab here is the "Share" tab which provides a static URL link to the film to share and various social media tools that allow you to easily one-click share films via social media platforms (note any film shared on social media or otherwise will still be protected by your library's on- and off-campus authentication systems).
