Author Talk & Book Signing
February 5, 2024     By lib.stpetersburg.usf.edu

Please join us on Monday, February 5th from 5pm-6pm at the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library at USF St. Pete for a presentation and book signing by Dr. Ray Arsenault (John Hope Franklin Emeritus Professor of Southern History) celebrating his newest book–the first book-length biography of John Lewis. This event is free and open to the public.

In John Lewis: In Search of the Beloved Community, Arsenault traces Lewis' upbringing in rural Alabama, his activism as a Freedom Rider and leader of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, his championing of voting rights and anti-poverty initiatives, and his decades of service as the "conscience of Congress". Books will be available for sale with a book signing after the talk.
