Borrowing Privileges

Retirees from USF St. Petersburg retain the pre-retirement borrowing privileges at the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library. To borrow materials from Poynter Library, retirees must have a valid USF St Petersburg Retiree identification card complete with a 14-digit barcode number.

Retired Faculty have a 6 month loan period for a maximum of 200 items from the general circulating collection including media and interlibrary loan privileges.

Retired Staff have a 4 month loan period for a maximum of 100 items from the general circulating collection including media and interlibrary loans from other USF libraries.

Please note that Laptops and Study Room Keys are available only to current USF students, faculty, and staff.

Additional information about borrowing basics is located at this borrowing table.

Database Access

Retired faculty and staff with a working NetID may use the library computers located at the computer commons for access to the internet and library databases.  They can also use their personal laptops within the building to connect to the “USF Network”.  Remote access services may be restricted due to frequently changing licensing agreements.

Retired faculty and staff without a working NetID may use a personal laptop within the building for “USF Guest Network” access.  Please note that this only allows for internet access and does not grant access to Poynter Library’s electronic databases.  With a valid USF ID, retired faculty and staff can ask library staff at the Circulation Desk for access to the USF libraries databases.

Most of the state’s public libraries also provide access to a variety of generalized databases via the public library barcode.
